MOIOLA K-8 SCHOOL
ACAEMIC CODE OF HONOR
 
Moiola K-8 School considers high ethical and moral behavior in education essential. Individual students are responsible for their own work and actions. Therefore, the following Academic Code of Honor is in effect at Moiola K-8 School. The Academic Honor Code deals with issues surrounding dishonesty. Dishonesty is not limited to the situations listed below. Other actions not specifically contained herein may also rightfully be conceived as dishonest. The goal of the Academic Honor Code is to clearly outline the expectations for the students.
 
TESTS/QUIZZES: Students will be responsible for honest test taking practices by:
·               Not receiving or providing information before or during a test
·               Not using unauthorized materials on a test
·               Not violating testing rules as outlined by the teacher
 
CLASSWORK AND HOMEWORK:
·               Students shall be responsible for their own work (assignments/notes/projects) and shall not allow other students to use or copy it unless permitted by the teacher.
·               Students shall complete written work without using ideas of written material from other sources such as books, magazines, and internet sources, unless proper credit is given to avoid plagiarism.
 
SCHOOL DOCUMENTS:
Student shall obtain valid parent signatures on all school documents and papers that require a parent signature. Forgery is a serious offense.
 
VIOLATIONS OF THE HONOR CODE:
The following procedure will be followed when a student is found in violation of this Academic Code of Honor.
 
1st Offense
·               An “F” or zero on the assignment, test, quiz or project.
·               Referral will be written and parents will be contacted by the instructor.
·               Administrative Detention.
 
2nd Offense
·               An “F” or zero on the assignment, test, quiz, or project.
·               Referral will be written and parents will be contacted by the instructor.
·               Saturday School.
 
3rd Offense
·               An “F” or zero on the assignment, test, quiz, or project.
·               Referral will be written and parents will be contacted by the instructor.
·               Suspension.
 
Academic Honor Code violations are a part of the student’s discipline record.
